XMAS, MSU and all that Jazz -

A very merry xmas from all of us at the Domain team. We have all been chillin with family and generally getting drunk during this public holiday.
News from the MSU, we have made the final list of the finals (sounds strange I know). So have proved to be with the best of the best mods for UT2004.
With the new staff we have taken on over the past few weeks, we have new maps being created and are discussing the next stage of development. So if you have any ideas for us, pop along to the forums and tell us.
Hope you all have a good new year party as well, and the team looks forward to bring you more content in thier 4th year of development !! |

Domain Version 2.2 -

The time has arrived for our next big update! This new version includes 4 new weapon models, smoke grenades, new hit effects, complete GUI re-write and a vast number of small changes to tweak weapons and gameplay that you wont see but will defintly notice. Mirror locations are being added as soon as we get them, so check the download button the left.
After winning a place in Phase 3 of the MSU and a chance at another place in Phase 4, AND as well as getting onto the ECE edition of UT2004, this version has been entered as our grand finals entry.
Give us your feedback, if you love it and play it on lan 24/7 (we have proof!) or you think it sucks and needs a new lead coder ;) then please leave us messages in the forums or come visit us in the #domain irc channel on gamesurge.
You can guess that we like to get into the work rather then spam the world with how good we are (we let the mod speak for itself), so a quick apology for the lack of updates to the site. |

Domain Version 2.1EC -

Fanboy Studios are proud to release their Editors Choice edition of Domain2049.
Domain 2.1EC has had a major overhaul from its UT2003 begining. So much has changed we aren't going to bother listing what has changed, because nearly everything has. The only thing that has stayed the same are the fantasic maps, which 7 out of 8 have been finalists in the MSU, most on more then one occasion. We have taken on-board ideas and suggestions from our MSU 5th place version, ironed out the bugs, replaced the dodgy models and added full bot support to create the best version yet. If you have tried a previous version and did not get on with it, you wont notice its the same mod, so give it another go!
Download sites will become available through the day, check the download section on the left of this web site!
Due to our skilled mappers going pro, we are also looking for mappers to enhance our already top class selection. If you are interested in mapping (or have any other skills you think we could use) please contact us: grimfort@domain2049.com |

MSUC - 5th Place !! -

The fanboystudio team have finally taken a prize in the MSUC www.makesomethingunreal.com), in which we took 5th place. Our release 2.0 was definatly the best yet, and we have excelled again with the internal release thats currently under heavy testing and will be available for download s00n.
So congrats to us, and especially those members who have worked so hard recently to move us towards the end goal of creating a great game. |

PCAction - Super Mod -

Domain has been given the award of Super-Mod of the month by the german magazine PC Action. The current POTW is a scan of the artical as it appears in the mag, and this is the (rough) translation:
DOMAIN: The future lies in your hand, so does your gun
UT 2004:
The story is set in the near future. The United State of Earth -USE- let the world stay in fear. Nobody has the faith to fight against them. Nobody? - not really. A small group of rebels resists and tries to hurt the USE with terror attacks. The members of the underground rebellion are living in dirty slums far away from civilization. Slowly they get more and more members. A war is beginning.
Totally BOOM tastic (another funny headline )
While 'Bezold' for sure plays on USE, I join the rebels. As long as the USE tries to hold position, the rebels try to explode almost everything. The whole game can be understood as an enhanced assault mode. The scenery is located on 8 smart produced levels which have exactly the right size for a solid multiplayer experience. With the weapons the coder realized 12 brand new guns which are not comparable to any ut2004 weapons. Bad guys take a baseball bat and hit the enemy from behind. Cowardly, but funny.

Thursday nights -

Im now back from my honeymoon as I just got married (yey me!). We are still looking at making an update in the next couple of weeks, just awaiting new rebels models from dedalo.
Also as expected we also have made it into the finals of the MSU for the 3rd time \0/.
And the reason for the news post (at last you say!), the domain crew is getting together on Thursday at 21:00 CET to play a game against the public. If you fancy a game then please come by the irc channel (#domain on gamesurge). Due to all the 100s of mods being released we dont have that many human players online, so this is an opportunity to get some testing out for those who havent played domain as it was ment to be played, online.

Domain2049 has been released... -

This first edition using the new engine has had a complete overhaul, with new models, weapons, sound effects, maps, gameplay and more being stuffed into the 180 meg download (both umod and structured zip).
Using feedback from previous versions, we have concentrated on character models, and weapons. The models in this release are just a small proportion of whats to come in future releases. Concepts and WIP can be found on this website.
Now we have a stable base to work from, expect more frequent updates which will include major content changes. Feedback is very important to us, so please tell us what you think via our forums or even personally via irc.
Main Features:
- 8 multi-objective based maps
- 2 teams with support for 4
- 15 different weapons
- 3D game selection screen
- Agressive single player interaction (bot AI)
After the success of our game (finalist) and levels (the only mod to be a finalist, TWICE!) in Phases 1 and 2, we are looking to expand the team. We need more mappers, dedicated testers and weapons skinners. If you think you can fit the role all contact details are on the web site. |
